NEW PROGRAMMING | AVAILABLE NOW
Our premier program this year is the re:mancipation project because of its cultural relevance and the multi-disciplinary participation it inspired. Spurred by the tearing down of confederate monuments in 2020, re:mancipation explores social justice themes using monuments, artifacts, visual art, performance art, textiles, spoken word, and music. We have developed a supporting curriculum with the Chazen Museum of Art and the Mellon Foundation, artworks that can be experienced through a virtual exhibition and in person with Augmented Reality(AR), a score of music created by artists working on the project, a book/exhibition catalog, and a documentary that depicts the process behind the project. Each asset provides different modalities of learners to engage the underlying subject matter: Freedom and Equality in America, through a diverse lens. The Artists, Educators & Museum staff have developed a panel (1hr), and workshop (1.5hr), each of which both of which were heavily attended at the American Alliance of Museum’s annual conference. These experiences can be offered to superintendents, principals, teachers, parents, and community partners for professional development and community engagement.
